My Dream to Memorize The Whole Quran and What I Do to Achieve the Dream
It is a dream of every muslim to memorize the Book of Allah. Yes, I too have that dream. That I memorize the whole Quran. I am sure you also have that goal to have Quran recorded in your memory. My intention is to memorize the Quran in 5 years of time. This gives me time to learn thajweed and Qiraath as well. Waw. Isnt that awesome ? This is a goal, and I need action steps to achieve them. So, here are the steps I follow to achieve this dream of mine. In this 4 are basic and 3 are advanced (to memorize with meaning).
Basic Points (This is enough to get you memorize the Holy Quran)
(1) Sincere Intension : Sincere intention that this is for the sake of Allah and not any worldly benefit.
(2) Tajweed Lessons : I have my Tajweed lessons once a week and I learn how to read the alphabets and verses correctly.
(3) Memorization process: After I am done with a tajweed lessons, I will start working on my memorization and inshah Allah, once I will have the whole Quran written down to my memory.
I personally don’t recommend anyone to memorize Quran himself. Because, you need someone to listen to you and give you feedback (positive and negative).
Here is the GEM : Join a Quran Memorization School !
(4) Dua to Allah : Pray to Allah that He helps me in this dream.
Advanced (this is in addition to above 4 points - ie to help me understand the memorized verses)
(1) Learn Quranic Arabic -To learn Quranic Arabic, I use the textbook “Access to Quranic Arabic” by AbdulWahid Hamid. Materials from bayyinah.com is very helpful to learn Quranic Arabic. With this, I can understand what I am reading and thus can easily memorize them.
(2) Learning Quranic Vocabulary Dictionary: Access to quranic arabic has a dictionary of all the words used in Quran. It is divided into 3 sets (1) The words that occur more than 100 times (2) Words that occur between 50-100 times. (3) Words that occur less than 50 times. Learning this vocabulary also will help me to recollect the memorized verses and also help me better retain them. So, I am in the process of memorizing this list.
(3) Work on my memory skills : I use “Memory In A Month” workshop lecture by world memory champion : Ron White . http://www.successmagazine.com/store/product/detail?productId=95
Excuse of “I don’t have enough memory skills to memorize the whole Quran”, is not an excuse anymore !
I am sure that with the help of Allah, if I follow the above steps consistently - once the Book of Allah will be recorded in my memory.
Make sure memorization of Holy Quran is one of your life goals, and consistently work to achieve this great goal. Decide that you will memorize the Quran in minimum 5 years of time, and then begin your journey today.
May Allah accept.
