Are Your Tasks Fulfilling To You
By SuccessMuslimEveryday, Every week, Every month – we are
indulged in some kind of work. Activities that take up our time. Those things we decide to do consciously or unconsciously. Yet – sometimes at the end of the day, we feel a deep emptiness within us. A feeling that we haven’t achieved anything today. A sense of unhappiness that comes when we feel we were caught up on those “busy” tasks of life.
Recently, I was planning my todo, and decided to put off one task and take up another. Then – suddenly I asked myself this question – “Is this new task more fullfilling to me than the one I am currently doing. If I finished both of the tasks, which one would give me more happiness and a feeling of success.” I knew it was the first task that I was about to “put off”.
Immediately I pulled myself out from taking up the second task, and continued working on the first. After about 30 minutes, I said – Ok. Enough of this for today. Rest of this task tomorrow ! And then, I took my second task and started working on it.
Do you want to know what was that second task was – it was writing this article ! Even though both this task (of writing) and other one (which is preparing for an exam) was important to me, I felt I will get more sense of fulfillment if I did the study part.
I immediately created a new category in my todo app (I follow RPM method of time management by Tony Robbins). A new category called “Fulfillment”. And put in them, those tasks that if I do will give me maximum happiness, fulfillment and contribution. After all, is that what I want to achieve via Personal development.
Here is my question to you. Look at your daily tasks and can you put them to the category called “Fulfillment”. How much of those tasks will go into this list and how much will stay outside. If majority is outside the “Fulfillment” category, then is there any wonder that we feel unfulfilled in our life ? Because we are not doing tasks that will give us fulfillment, and hence we don’t have fulfillment in our life.
Lets remember – we have a choice in the tasks we can do every day. And that choice we make, will decide our life. The choice is ours to make.
